Thank you to everyone who has joined so far! You are all awesome! ❤️Since we are all doing intro's, I actually got into Aaliyah at a very young age also (more is written on the about page if you wanna dig in deeper 😎) But one thing I can say is that Aaliyah actually performed at one of my old high schools over here in the UK. Unfortunately I never got the chance to meet her in person, as she visited during her AANBAN era (I was still in primary/elementary school back then) but knowing I've performed on the same stage as her is a pretty dope feeling! 😄

I became a fan of Aaliyah through my mom and she has the Age Ain't Nothing But a Number album and when I listened to Back & Forth it really drew me into her and ever since I've gotten to know how she changed how people look at R&B.

Hi everyone!

My name is Stassa and I'm from Greece. I first saw Aaliyah's "Try Again" video on MTV in December 2000 and I remember thinking that the sound and image were so different and so ahead of its time... I was buying an amazing music magazine at the time and the magazine's editor was OBSESSED with Aaliyah and always had a piece on her in every single issue. When "We Need A Resolution" was finally released, he did a full page spread on the song, featuring some amazing photos of Aaliyah from her Albert Watson photoshoot (gold top/earrings, black leather pants) and I think that's when I officially became a fan, lol. I think her fashion sense and style initially drew me more than her music, but when "Aaliyah" was released, I realized that she was an all around amazing artist.

It's great to have an online platform where all Aaliyah fans can gather and share thoughts, and also have her music, photo and video archives complete in one place. Fan websites are so much fun and in the era of social media tend to become obsolete, so I always applaud an effort to keep them alive and enrich their content :)

I've been rocking with Aaliyah since I was a little girl (I was born in '92). I remember sitting on the floor looking at her music video and I thought she was so beautiful and had a voice of an angel. That's how I became a fan and she's been my number 1 since, and will always be.

This site is absolutely beautiful btw! I'm so happy there's a forum now for us fam to all chat-it-up!

My name is Marta, I'm 31 years old and I'm from Poland. I'm a fan of Baby Girl since late 2009. It was "Back & Forth" song that made me fall in love with her music and her whole personality. Back in the day I was a part in great website dedicated to our Aaliyah -  Just-Aaliyah.net and then Aaliyah.PL. Also along with Katty we have created Came To Give Love tumblr blog devoted to everything Baby Girl and us as fans.

I'm really glad that now this place exists where fans all over the wolrd can share passion and love for Aaliyah.

This year marks 20 years since she's not physically with us, but as fans we keep her legacy alive. I know it won't change anytime soon ♥

Hi my name is Alicia , in 28 years old living in NYC orginally from London UK. I became a fan of Aaliyah when I first heard her song called Try Again on the radio. I remember listening to it , I was around 7 or 8 years old back then . Ever since then I got hooked to her music , listening to all her albums . I even downloaded her songs in my ipod but yeah she is very talented & definitely one of a million. It's great that this site for Aaliyah exists because we need to remember her for who she is . She definitely left a legacy for us fans to follow & cherish .

This started a very long time ago when I was in a car with my mother, her aunt, and the aunt's son. We were going on road trip down south to visit my grandma, and I believe the aunt's son said something along the lines of, "Let's play some Aaliyah." Then, he put in the CD of her Red album and "More Than A Woman" was the first song I heard. In that instant I fell in love with the song, especially the intro, but my mother turned it off because we all misheard the chorus. Instead of Aaliyah saying "More than a lover, more than a woman." Mom thought she said "More than [my name], more than [my name]." What I thought she said was, "Ooh, that [my name], ooh, that [my name]." It's funny now that I think about it. "'Cause I don't want [name] thinking she bad." - Mom

I heard it again on our way back from the visit. I vividly remember where I was sitting and what I saw. It was during the sunset, much like the one in the beginning scene for "Rock The Boat", but more goldish. Ever since then, I've tried to find that one song. I never got the chance to ask the aunt's son what the song was as I was too shy at the time. It took many years until one day, I think in 2021, where the memory popped up in my head and I searched in YouTube Music the lyrics that I remember hearing, being the misheard ones. I clicked on the first result.

That was the moment I was hooked, I had found the song, and then the artist. I wanted to hear more of what Aaliyah had to offer, that's when I became a fan. This whole thing is also why MTAW is my favorite song from her, besides Timbaland's briliance and her voice. The visuals in the music video also resembles what I saw in the two memories of hearing it for the first and second time. Maybe I was destined to discover her, I don't know!
