Repost via @heirher: "1994 Amber, Conseulo, RIP Aaliyah, Mercedes, RIP Tawaina, Lakena Detroit, MI. Detroit Highschool of the Performing arts has some very rare history when you see the talent that reigned from Michigan. The 90s was the most impactful era when we discuss music, fashion and natural beauty. This could never be duplicated. The essence of the original woman. Looking back through the archives you could really see and appreciate how impactful these women were.

Who would’ve known that they would be some of the pioneers to hip hop & R&B then and still today? Aaliyah released multiple studio albums that would demolish the top charts and was awarded with endless awards for her. This rare image in particular was shortly before her Age Ain't Nothing but a Number debut studio album. It was released on May 24th, 1994 by Blackground Records and Jive Records. Mz Lady Mercedes worked alongside some of the south’s best acts reigning supreme from the 90s such as Master P, 504 Boyz, Mia X, Silkk the Shocker, Magic, Mac, Mystikal. Her diversity on the microphone was sought after, during one studio performance which changed her life and career.

Times when the women were natural, organic women reigned supreme throughout the 90s. These women today are still top tier Queens who aged like wine, divine women. No one is above the goddesses who wrote the blueprint in gold script. Second to none, competition is non existent. Peace Queen. 💋 WRITTEN BY: @HEIRHIM CREATIVE DIRECTOR: @CEOHEIR PHOTOS BY: @mzladymercedes LOCATION: Detroit, MI #HEIRHER"

Wow...caption on a 💯 right here! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Here's an image of a young Aaliyah that is rarely ever posted or not familiar to some fans. Seeing this level of talent and natural beauty was something else during the 90's. So grateful that I was able to grow up and live through this era. So many good memories, good vibrations and simpler times... *sigh* Huge thanks to @kath3000 for the tag! ❤️
