Aaliyah: 20 Years On...

By Sandy

20 Years later and here we are Baby Girl...Its been a long, rollercoaster of emotions from a range of highs to lows, but today I will not entertain the negativity, in fact, today I celebrate the life and legacy that we as fans have been holding down for so long. Every day I wake up, I look at this edit on my phone as a constant, daily reminder of why I do what I do, why I became a fanpage, and why I dedicated a site in honour of your legacy.

Normally every August, I feel such sorrow within my heart, contemplating on why your life was cut so short, but today I am thankful and grateful that 20 years on...people are finally able to stream your music. The tears of shear bliss and joy that ran down my face was an emotion I never thought I would feel upon listening to your One In A Million album again. But I guess it was just suppressed emotions after waiting for 20 years as a fan to finally see you charting again, to finally show the recognition you deserve, to finally show that #AaliyahIsComing and #AaliyahIsHere to stay.

Thank you Baby Girl for being a pivotal role model and inspiration within my life, and thank you for teaching me things about myself as the grown woman I have become today. You meant so much to so many people worldwide that we cannot deny the impact you had. I pray and hope whatever animosity there is can come to a resolution soon, for your sake Baby Girl, because that is truly what matters most.

I love and miss you dearly...🙏🏽❤
