With the re-release of Aaliyah's self titled Red Album, we as fans were gifted with so many treats that it was hard to keep track of everything. Above we have some beautiful rare outtakes from the Albert Watson photoshoot. (Swipe to view the rest!) Watson was the main man who was responsible for capturing the album cover of this iconic piece of history.
The roll out itself was beautifully promoted in a way which we never would of imagined. If you haven't already please be sure to check out our video gallery section here to view the Red Album visualizers for each track which were uploaded via Blackground. They also gave us a huge surprise with a beautiful animation, which is reminiscent of Aaliyah's original Japanese animation commerical which was used to promote the Red Album back in 2001. You can watch below to compare the two! We were definitely impressed by the deeper metaphor in context to how Aaliyah's music has been kept in the vaults for so long and now...it's finally free, like a dove flying and spreading it's wings...
